DeAgostini Star Wars Helmet Collection Issues 32 & 33

More helmets from DeAgostini this month!!

Issue 32 - Hoth Rebel Soldier

So this is one of the kind of easily overlooked helmets, I probably would have preferred the Luke Skywalker variant of this, with the wrapping around the helmet, and it's another where we scream WHAT ABOUT THE SOFT GOODS?! It's also a little different from the props used too, the goggles in the movie had a green tint to them, which clearly, this doesn't have. Sad, but this is probably my least favourite helmet of the collection.

The magazine starts off with the Database from KEL - KI, which includes Legendary Jedi Master Kenobi, an AWESOME two pages on info about him, spanning all the films and Animated series!

The Kel-Dor Master Plo Koon and also Master Ki-Adi Mundi are included in this issue's Databank.

Next is a History of the Hoth Rebel Soldiers, how they were put together and the mostly forgotten struggle and ultimate sacrifice they faced on Hoth as they were overwhelmed by forces of the Galactic Empire, led by Darth Vader. In the middle pages are also cross sections of the helmet itself and it's various parts, from the communications gear to the protective visor.

A little about the weapons and gear of these brave soldiers is explained aswell as the next few pages which talk more about Echo Base and the various leaders who helped in the escape of the bombardment and clutches of the Imperials.

Lastly for the Highlight of the Saga is a little about the scene where Luke Skywalker is hunted by the Wampa and has to escape from the Ice Cave. Possibly one of the most amazing scenes in the original trilogy is where Luke's saber is pulled from the snow with The Force, which I may add is mirrored and again quite emotional in The Force Awakens!

The back page teases Commander Neyo's helmet, another of the Clones!

Issue 33 - Commander Neyo

COME ON DeAGOSTINI!!

You may or may not be able to see from the above picture, AGAIN how this helmet has been put together.. something like 4 pieces now. I so WISH I knew the process of putting together a model like this as it just feels they could have just a little better.. Being made up of the front mask, left and right sides, plus the top of the helmet, so many parts, it must be difficult to get them all to fit together.

Unfortunately the helmet I have hasn't been put together that great and you can see the skewing where the pieces aren't quite next to each other properly. A real shame. The design is nice and simple and it's a great looking helmet as a whole, being slightly different from the regular clone helmets.

In this issue's magazine, the Databank covers KIL - KAT, which includes the fan favourite Kitwarr, the Wookiee child who was saved by the Rebels in the very first series!! (If you've not seen Rebels you need to catch up!!)

We also see a Character who was played by one of my Facebook friends!! Corey Dee Williams! YES Lando's SON!!

Nikto!
More of the Jedi Masters of the council are also included, Eeth Koth and Agen Kolar, as well as Jabba's Fool, Salacious Crumb.

The middle pages as ever confirm the History of Commander Neyo, apparently among the first 100 Clones created. There's a cross section of his helmet and as such it's confirmed as to why it's slightly different from the other Clones helmets, Neyo was a Speeder Bike rider as part of the 91st Recon Corps. This part of the mag also confirms how Neyo betrayed and killed General/Jedi Master Adi Gallia, when Order 66 was issued.

Further details of Neyo's weapons confirm he was assigned to the Venator Class Star Destroyer, and for those who like details of the Republic Fleet, there's info on an array of ships.

The Highlight of the Saga in this issue tells the story of "D Squad", one of the Pit Droids of the squad was assigned as Neyo's Pilot.

Issue 34 promises a look at the guys who got to hit the big red button which destroyed Alderaan!

THE DEATH STAR TROOPER!

They were just doing their job right? We'll find out I guess!

DeAgostini Star Wars Helmet Collection! Issues 30 & 31!

More great helmets from DeAgostini this month!!

Issue 30 - Senate Guard

Firstly, the Senate Guard is a great helmet, it hearkens back to the original trilogy, but obviously found in the Prequel Trilogy, it shows a possible evolution of the Imperial Guard helmets.

Like the Imperial Helmet, it's a sleek beautiful design, and the brushes on the top give a more regal feel.. This Helmet is a really nice representation of the actual prob from the films.

The magazine starts off with the Database from KAA - KAM, including information on the Gungan battle mounts! the Kaadu, General Grevious' Kaleesh, AND *SPOILER ALERT* the now Imperial turned Rebel, Agent Kallus!

Next with a History of the Senate Guard, this paragraph goes into a little information about them and how they went about their duties. There we go, the inside pages now talk about the ranking of the Guards, as well as information about the changes from the Senate Guard to the Imperial Guard.

Middle pages go into the cross sections of the helmet itself. More than just for show (although this is definitely talked about) interestingly enough the Plume on the top hides away a communications antennae.. there's more about the general design, weapons and equipment for these guards.

Further pages explain about the other form of the Senate Guard, the Senate Commando's and goes into a little backstory of Captain Faro Argyus (From the Clone Wars Animated Series). Ultimately he was a traitor to the republic but as Karma had it, he met his end at the hand of Asajj Ventress.

The back page teases Poe Dameron's more modern looking helmet!!

Issue 31 - Poe Dameron

Check. Out. This. HELMET!! It still has the worn feel of the old original xwing helmets, but this thing definately LOOKS more modern, a little more stylish and a little less bulky. This miniature helmet is a great representation of the actual prop, no moving parts, but all the scratches and details are on there. I cannot WAIT to sort out my man cave and get these helmets on show!!

We're now getting along with the Databank and this issue covers KAM to KAT, including the mysterious Kaminoans (answers on a postcard to confirm how to say that masterpiece of a word!), of course Kanjiclub get a mention, is this an actual saying now? "I swear Mum I didn't do it!" "Tell that to Kanjiclub!!"
The Wookiee world of Kashyyyk gets a mention in the Databank too and confirms WHERE it actually resides on the universe map of the new Canon!

Next up for the middle pages sets up the history of the wearer of this issues helmet, Poe Dameron. Taking this info from the Marvel Comics Mini-series Star Wars: Shattered Empire this outlined Poe's roots regarding his parents piloting background.

Info about Poe's personal fighter ship is also teased here aswell as a piece on Poe's intro in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (That's that film that did rather well in ratings.. )

The cross sections detail more about the helmet and what's weird is that there's some Aurabesh on the side of the helmet.. which reads ROAEHAL in English.. what does this mean!?! I've tweeted the Holocron, so hopefully I'll get a reply back soon! STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES!!

There's also details about Poe's sidearm and other equipment and also a little bio.

Whats next in the mag is a few pages on the Resistance as a whole, their History, uniforms, certain members, even the new style of Rankings on their uniforms. My favorite part of this mag is next detailing the pilots of this new era, sadly most of them bite the dust on Starkiller base.. which leads quite nicely into the last segment of this issue, the Assault On Starkiller Base.

Issue 32 boasts the helmet of the Hoth Rebel Soldiers, should be good as I don't know alot about them, we see little of them in "Empire" too..

DeAgostini Star Wars Helmet Collection! Issues 28 & 29!

More great helmets from DeAgostini this month!!

Issue 28 - Coruscant Emergency Crew

This helmet does look really nice, its just not lived in enough for me, the detail is spot on to the props used, but it just needs more of a chrome look and By the looks of it the pipes are the slightly lighter than they should be.

The magazine for this issue starts of with the Databank from JAM to JED, which includes information about Wes Janson, Kanan Jarrus, as well as the Jedi in general, loads of info there which covers all 7 of the films.

Next in the mag is a history about the characters which made up the Emergency Crew, a little about their lives, including education and also the fact that in some cases former clone troopers were in the ranks!

In the middle pages are a few side views, detailing the specifics of the helmet and what purposes some of the parts actually do. I always love these parts of the mag as it gives a reality aspect to the world.

The uniform and vehicles are also referred to in the following pages, and there's also a bit about firefighting in general in the Star Wars universe, the way they use Droids and even Battle Droids to become Emergency Fire Crews. R2D2 gets a nice mention here too!

The Highlights of the Saga outlines the Fire Crews responsibility when the Invisible Hand came crashing out of space to "land" on Coruscant.

The back page teases a few of the following helmets, Senate Guard, Poe Dameron and also Boushh Helmets. As well as Issue 29...

 Issue 29 - Imperial Snowtrooper

A simple helmet, but a very much loved character in fandom, people go mad for building squads of these!

As I say this helmet is extremely simple, it really is a "Buckethead" the top part is practically a mold of the At-At driver but with an extra part with eye holes, and then material hanging down. Again no soft goods here, but it looks pretty material-like. Like the previous helmet, this is too clean, I wanted to see maybe a few scrapes and blemishes, as per the magazine photo.

The magazine starts with the Databank of JEL to JUN and includes goodies like Dexster Jettster and Qui-Gon Jinn aswell as other characters from The Clone Wars and ships from the Canon Comics! I love how thorough DeAgostini are with this Databank!

What follows is a history lesson into the Snowtroopers, or "Cold Weather Assault Troopers" as they are formally know. This also goes into detail about "Blizzard Force" which was apparently one of the "..most feared groups within the Imperial army.." ..hmm.. cool..

The Imperial Fleet in general is then broken down into the different types of Ships (as in the big ones!). Then the Highlight of the Saga in this issue is a breakdown of some of the pinnacle moments and storylines of The Empire Strikes Back, more precisely the Battle of Hoth.

The back page is a little annoying as it's usually the teaser to the upcoming issues and it states Issue 29, which is THIS issue, aswell as the next one which we already know is going to be the Senate Guard. I'm looking forward to that one though as I've just started collecting merchandise regarding the Royal Guard, of which was born from the Senate guard..

Welcome to the New Site - DeAgostini Star Wars Helmet Collection!

Welcome to the Scavenger UK Blogsite! Yes the Podcast has now gone, hopefully not forever, but for the time being this is how I'm going to be bringing you all the good Star Wars and also other Toy stuff!

For this post I'll be reviewing the Helmets and Magazines from my favourite collecting company, DeAgostini!

These issues comprise of Number 26 which is the Y-Wing Pilot, a favorite among Star Wars starship lovers, aswell as Number 27 which is the gorgeous green helmet of dear now HEADLESS (Thanks to Master Yoda) Commander Gree!

First up,

Issue 26 - The Y-Wing Pilot Helmet:

The helmet, albeit a little too clean for my liking, is a really nice representation of the prop used in the films. As far as I can tell, this particular prop helmet belonged to Grey Two, a Lieutenant Telsij, but don't quote me on that.. the interwebs are pretty sketchy!

The Magazine which accompanies the prop starts off as ever with the Databank, from IMP - INQ, so there's alot of Imperial content here to keep you IMP lovers at bay! There's also some love for the much loved Vintage toy the Imperial Troop Transport! Definitely a databank to check out if you like the baddies..

In the middle pages there's some great history about the Y-Wing pilots which was really nice as they are somewhat in the background in the films and on the surface didn't really seem to do much, just drop a few bombs and then drop like flies in the trenches of the Death Star. But these few pages here really nicely detail the reasoning behind using this ships in battles and also how they actually assisted in the battles of Yavin and Endor.

The helmet itself gets a nice inside look on the fold out pages and there's some nice details to be seen here.

The Y-Wing pilot is then broken down into Uniform and Equipment, weapons and also a little information about the rest of the rebel alliance too, including the Rebel Soldiers, Technicians and Ground Personnel.

Due to the nature of the Y-wing and where they took part in the Saga, the next few pages concentrate on Yavin Base and there's more about the Rebel leaders, pilots and also a few of the vital areas of the base, like the War Room and Ceremony Room.

Lastly in Issue 26 we get a timeline and a highlight of when Anakin Skywalker lead Shadow Squadron's Y-Wings into battle against General Greivous's Heavy Cruiser the Malevolence, I'm kinda glad the podcast stopped as I'd probably need a few goes at saying Malevolence

The back page teases issue 27 which is Commander Gree's green helmet!

Issue 27 - Commander Gree Clone Trooper Helmet:

Wow, so this helmet, as I hope you can see from the picture is gorgeous! Not without it's fault mind you, there's that little part in the middle of the brow that for a few issues now just doesn't link together quite right, this also makes the paint job look a little off too, however the green really Pops! And it's a great looking helmet.
Commander Gree worked closely with Yoda during the Battle of Kashyyyk and then the poor guy lost his head when he stupidly tried to take out the wise old Master, what a numpty..

As for the magazine, the Databank covers INT - JAK and covers some great stuff! I'm always amazed at the amount of information of just the slightest mention of the items, vehicles or aliens, everything has a background and use.. amazing really.. Jabba gets a massive space of this Databank so check it out!

In the middle fold out pages there's a great breakdown of Gree, how he got his name, where he was allocated and also details of the betrayal of Order 66 and also as always the cutaways of the helmet and some good detailed info regarding what all the bits and pieces are. Following that is a little about Gree's weapons and then keeping with the scenes of Kashyyyk there's some info about the Wookies, weapons, vehicles and also more info about the battle itself.

At the back of this issue it teases the first of next months issues, which is the Coruscant Emergency Crew, these are the guys that helped put out the fires of the Invisible Hand when Anakin "Landed" it at the beginning of Episode 3.

Check out DeAgostini's website for more info on these issues and how to subscribe to the collection. It truely is worth the £20 per month, you get two issues for that, plus you can get some great other collectables like the R2D2 USB stick and also the binders to keep the magazines nice and tidy!
